The Highway Code (art. 3, c. 1, 34 bis) defines the exchange car parks “as a car park located near railways or public transportation in order to facilitate mobility.” It has been created to decrease traffic downtown and to facilitate those people who arrive from the suburbs and want to park easily to reach the center with public transportation.
It has been defined as strategic by the urban mobility lan of Genoa (approved by DCC1/2010).
Public Administration, in partnership with its companies, has defined a plan summarized as following:
- free stop (within 12:00 p.m.) for those who have yearly season ticket AMT;
- the possibility to have an integrated and favored fee – AMT subscribers not included;
- the possibility for everyone to take advantage of those areas for quick stops upon ticket payment according to DCC 114/2010;
Parking spaces reserved to private transport – public transportation foresees BELT management and control integrated system “Electronic Ticket Liguria Trasporti”; it has been used for yearly tickets supervised by ATM (monthly tickets are still a trial).
Subjected areas are under double regulation: interchange and rotation’s one. Stops are free for ATM subscribers, otherwise different fees are foreseen.
Car parks are equipped with a control system that check BELT tecnology and automatic cashiers for TPL tickets.
